Dream a Little Dream

I woke up this morning from my first baby dream. Now don't get me wrong. I have had dreams where I am pregnant in them but I haven't yet had a dream that alluded to the sex of the baby. Old wives tales will tell you that there is a very high probability that you are carrying the sex that you dream of. Only time will tell!

I was a busy girl this week above and beyond my dreaming capabilities. I started on a baby quilt for a friend of mine which continues to be a work in progress since my feet and back start to hurt after 10 minutes or so of sitting/standing. We also have a peach tree that is blooming with peaches and I can't keep up with it. I made peach cobbler and froze the rest which turned my kitchen into a sticky mess during the process. Yay! More cleaning!

Under Duress

This whole, two weeks in between posts in just an indication of things to come. So lets start off by setting the record straight, don't expect more than this out of me right now. Work has actually been pretty crazy which has contributed to my lack of blogger motivation. I did attend this interesting and very intense training last week and one of the slides cracked me up because it made me think of everyone in our office as well as every pregnant lady out there. Fitting for our current situation no doubt. After thinking in my head, at least we still have our humor, our trainer wisely informed us that dark humor doesn't count which includes sarcasm. At this point all I can think is, crap, I've lost it all.

On another note, since I haven't posted pictures in a while I decided you deserve a reprieve from my writing efforts. Your welcome.

This is me at 27 weeks. On memorial day I will be 29 weeks along.
I will do my best to post an updated picture :-)

I have to take a little time to talk about my partner in crime. No, not the baby but my amazing husband. Since about mother's day, Will has really stepped forward and is taking charge of the house. I like it. For the past two weeks he has taken over the grocery shopping and cooking dinners. He has also taken over laundry and partial cleaning of the house. Hooray! I mentioned to him that it appears that he is really enjoying cooking. His response what that he just enjoys eating food he actually likes. Ouch. Apparently my food is too healthy for him sometimes and lacks the adventure he strives for. At this point, I'm not even offended as long as he is cooking.

Speaking of dinners, we have recently started eating at the table because my belly is interfering with being able to eat off the coffee table while watching TV. I know this isn't the most cultured way to eat but hey, it's easy and it's the only way I can get my favorite shows in before bedtime. I like eating at the table though so it's been a good change even though it's pregnancy induced. There are a few other recent changes that have happened in the past few weeks that are notable. One is that some of my maternity clothes no longer fit me. This sounds crazy I know but apparently not all maternity clothes are made equally. For instance, a few of my pants now give me what I refer to as pregnancy muffin top. Pretty much just as bad as regular muffin top, just bigger. My favorite though is that the shirt I bought at a consignment sale that I was so excited about has started to show me busting out at the seams. It made me laugh so of course I took a picture.

Since entering the third trimester (yes, THIRD) I have also noticed my back starting to hurt and my ankles swelling. I guess that just means we are in the home stretch! Notice, slightly swollen ankles in the picture. Last night both Will and I were amazed as how swollen my ankles were after a 13 hour day. It was so amazing, I wasn't even mad.

Yoga Baby

As I woke up this morning to the beautiful sound of beeping coming from my alarm clock....wait, that isn't a beautiful sound! I guess that is what yoga does to me, makes me think of ways to capitalize on positive thinking.

I did get up this morning on time and received my daily allowance of morning kisses from Marvel. That is one of my dogs, not my husband for those of you wondering. It really is a great way to wake up in the morning because he is just so happy and that happiness rubs off on you even if you don't want it to. I have refocused my attention on maintaining healthy exercising during my pregnancy so I got up and proceeded to the babies room where my yoga mat is laid out. I used to do yoga in my office however Will has jacked the TV that I used to play my yoga DVD and I haven't put away all my crafting stuff so the babies room it is. I feel like it's fitting since I'm doing yoga for the baby anyway.

I have moved away from the DVD because it doesn't really flow and they use a lot of props that I don't have which is just irritating. I am now just using an article that I found online and it takes me about 30 minutes. I know is supposed to be no judgement and all but I totally judge myself. First of all, I breathe really heavy. I always have, probably always will. I like to call it, fat people breathing. I also tend to make noises every now and then. I also tend to laugh at myself like a high school mean girl when I make those noises. I can't do some of the really stretchy moves so I just half-ass my way through. I still feel it so I assume it's working.

I am, for sure, more of a sweat until you can't breathe anymore kinda gal but if this makes labor easier I will keep doing it without hesitation. With all of this said, I actually so really like yoga and it always helps to clear my mind. A clear mind is the best way to start of the day. Especially if it's FRIDAY!!!!!

Does Chai Latte Count as Dairy?

I am supposed to get a certain amount of dairy every day. Usually I really like yogurt, cheese, and cottage cheese it's hard to get in a daily amount lately. In fact, yogurt and cottage cheese has landed in my lunch on a regular basis but by the end of the day lands in the trash because 1. I forgot to put it in the refrigerator and 2. I look at it throughout the day and just can't bring myself to eat it! I do love cheese but am down to eating it maybe once a day when I used to be able to eat it several times a day. I have taken this as a sign. I think it means I need to trick my body into consuming dairy just like you would kids with their vegetables. Enter, the chai latte. My argument - it's half milk. I think that legitimately counts.

In other news, I finally got to volunteer my cheery smile at the CASA Golf tournament. Since I have never been on a golf course it was a new experience for me. It was super fun (as all CASA events are) and I enjoyed getting to mingle with some new faces. I was even lucky enough to end the day without a sun burn and get home early enough to take a nice long nap and wake up in plenty of time to eat dinner, watch my favorite shows and go to bed on time without having issues falling asleep.

In baby news, I have taken to simply referring to the little one as baby. It's gender neutral and I'm a little afraid that Cooter might stick past birth as my brother lovingly pointed out to me. Sometimes I do deviate and refer to baby as my little ninja and perhaps some other slightly offensive names that I won't document. Little ninja usually follows a sharp kick in the bladder which, by the way, is incredibly uncomfortable especially when you are driving and are not sure if you really have to find a restroom or if baby is just testing your reactionary time. The other names are generally reserved for the five to twenty times I wake up a night to use the restroom. I generally only get one to two hours of sleep in a row before I have to get up run to the bathroom. Will just sleeps right through it all. I wish I was such a sound sleeper.

We are finishing up Financial Peace University which has been hard but good. I recommend it to everyone because it really has given us a solid plan. We will finish that class up and move right on to birthing classes. Since we settled on the Bradley classes we will have to go to 10 classes. We will come out amazing parents completely prepared for the life changing event of giving birth...or not. We will at least come out with more knowledge. With that overwhelming thought I just want to take the time to pre-thank our doula Julie who will be the expert to help us through the birth. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Ooh, I think I Just Peed Myself

No seriously, I think I just peed myself. Here I am laying in bed, being all peaceful after rubbing lotion all over my belly and a sneeze just sneaks upon me. So I sneeze and pee at the same time. Ladies - if you have not experienced pregnancy yet, this is one of the many things that you have to look forward to. Your welcome.

In other news, I took an updated belly picture today. I decided that since Will always makes me look horrible in pictures, like he just points and shoots without warning, that I would take it into my own hands and take a picture using a mirror reflection. I feel like everyone needs one of those pictures anyway. Usually they are super slutty or include a bare belly but I'm a rule breaker and I kept my clothes on.
By the way, we went to yet another consignment sale this weekend and I bought the dress I am wearing for $5. The best part is that I really really like the dress!

I also have a few more teaser pictures from the babies room. We bought a crib this weekend off of craigslist and it was a STEAL!!! No seriously, we stole the crib. Ok, that's not actually true, I would be a horrible mother if I did that. It is a crib that is made in America by this company out of somewhere on the east coast. We decided to go with a non-convertible crib because the consensus seems to be that kids grow out of their cribs even if they can't. Regardless, the crib was originally purchased at the whopping price of $850 and we ended up paying $125. Pretty awesome!
This is our $25 rocking chair also off craiglist

The blanket you see in the rocking chair was lovingly made by my Grandma Clark. She said when she started it a few years back from scrap yarn she found in the basement she figured that by the time she had it finished, someone would be having a baby. Grandma's always know best. Will has also asked me to point out that my little turtle hanging from the crib railing cost more than the rocking chair. That's true but I don't care because I love him.

This weekend Will and I also ventured into the huge village of Kyle to try some local cuisine. We had doughnuts and kolache's at the doughnut/Chinese place. Yes, doughnut's and chinese are always a natural pairing. Then after a grueling day of me window shopping I stopped by the snow cone shop on my way back home and got a HUGE snow cone for just $3!

There is a Hand on my Belly!

To start, here is my first belly picture in a while. No it's not the traditional belly picture and no it's not the most flattering but here it is, so take what you can get.
Tonight I had my first hand on my belly. Obviously I'm showing if people are feeling comfortable about putting their hands on my belly. The funniest part of the whole experience was that the person actually put her hand on my belly and then proceeded to ask, "I this what I think it is". Well the response in my head was very different from the response that came out of my mouth. The polite response out of my mouth was, "yes, I am pregnant and due in August". The response in my head was more like, before you put your hand on my belly, you should have waited to confirm that yes, in fact I am pregnant and not that I just have been eating way too much ice cream! Just saying people, better to be safe than sorry.

Moving on. We have done a lot of work on the babies room. The work began with my good friend Bill volunteering to help me begin the paint job. So to take you through the process, tonight I will unveil what we started with. It was a pretty good time and given that the room started off as a teal blue and ended in yellow it took quite a few coats of paint and me feeding Bill dinner and dessert and supporting his drinking habit :-)

Moving everything out
Taped and edged

Halfway through the paint job

Yellow walls and mint green closet!

Bill being energetic and weird after all day painting

And me, exhausted and ready for bed after all day of painting

Where has the time went?

Let me start off by apologizing for my delinquency. I have been completely preoccupied with life in general and at the same time have felt like there hasn't been much to write home about since the last post. With that said, we have a lot of updates from the last week so you can expect me to update a few times this week just to avoid overloading you with over sharing.

In regards to baby here is what I have to offer. We have started referring to baby as Cooter. Now, you may hate this name but it's better than calling baby "it" and the name began this last week when my dad decided that he was going to rename everything Cooter and we thought it was funny. We have changed to a new doctor since I didn't really feel super confident with my last doctor and after spending an hour there for my first visit, I am feeling good about the change. We had our 22 week ultrasound and surprisingly stuck to our guns and didn't find out Cooters sex. We probably wouldn't have been able to anyway given that after waiting over an hour at the doctor's office (not the new doctor) to even be called back, baby was feeling shy and had it's back turned to us the whole time. We didn't even get to see a profile view and most of the ultrasound pics are just blobs of something known as a baby.

I haven't been regularly posting belly pics because I think they look horrible. My belly seems to have doubled in size this week so look for a new picture in the near future...promise. The baby's room is coming along nicely and we have all the painting done. We scored an awesome cradle from craigslist and while my parents were here last week they brought some presents from family and furnished us with some items while they were here. Yay!!!

Since my parents were here visiting all last week we were incredibly productive and did things like organized the entire kitchen, dreamed up new projects, assembled some furniture and so on. More pictures to come but here are some previews.

Wine glass rack bought from IKEA, installed by Will

Cheap IKEA flower plant, cherry tomato plant from  Natural Gardener
More pot gardening, vine spinach, romaine lettuce and sweet carrots

Our big project for the backyard this year was redoing the herb garden - all Will's handywork

About Me

My photo
My husband, William and I moved to Austin in July of 2008. We own two chihuahuas and a sickly cat that will never die. We are proud homeowners in a very stepwives looking neighborhood and are friendly with almost all the neighbors (the ones we like at least). We have been blessed with one beautiful baby girl and have another baby on the way of yet to be determined gender.
